CD Installation
Installing P11D Manager Software in a Network Environment
Prior to installation
> Make sure you have at least 800 MB of disk space available.
> To install software on a Windows computer, you must have administrative rights over that computer.
> Administrator status can be granted as:
> Local administrator - on a single computer, or a computer in a workgroup
Domain administrator - over all the computers in a domain
The installation process on a network system has to be performed in two parts, firstly the installation of the programs and creation of the database. This takes place while sitting in front of the server. Secondly P11D Manager needs to be configured to run over the network. This takes place on the workstations.
At the server
1.If the P11D Manager CD is already in the drive, but fails to auto load, Go to start; Run and type D:\P11D2011.exe (where D:\ is the CD drive on your server).
2. You are now shown the P11D Manager pre install notes. Choose next to continue.
3. Now select network version as the installation type. Choose next to continue.
4. Before starting the P11D Manager setup, the installer will check for pre-requisites such as Microsoft installer 3.1 and Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.
5. If they are not present, they will be installed automatically by choosing next. If Microsoft installer 3.1 needs to be installed upon completion, you will be required to restart the server.
6. Then the remaining pre-requisites will install by selecting next. This screen may take a little while to give you the option to click next.
7. You will now need to agree to the license to continue the installation, choose next after accepting the terms.
8. The next screen gives you the option to change the destination folder of the P11D Manager installation; this must be the local drive on the server. Once the destination directory has been chosen, select next. The installation will now commence.
9. When the files have installed, you will be prompted to run the P11D Manager software. Click finish to exit. After the server installation is completed, share the folder with Full Control to access the P11DClient.exe from the workstations.
At the Workstations
1. To be configured, navigate to the shared folder on the server that holds the P11D Manager files. This can be done either by browsing to the folder, or by typing in the name of the shared folder.
2. Run the file called P11DClient.exe in the P11DMAN/BIN-2011 folder. The path will be something like \\servername\share\ (replace this path with the correct path for your environment). Map a drive letter to the shared folder.
3. Once you have selected the P11DClient.exe, the installer will Start to run. The workstation setup will initialise after a few moments. Choose next to begin P11D Manager client install requirements.
4. Having installed P11D Manager requirements, now choose to install the P11D client on the workstation.
5. You will need to agree to the license to continue the installation. Choose next after accepting the terms of the license.
6. The next screen gives you the option to change the destination folder of the P11D Manager installation. Once the destination directory has been chosen, select next. The installation of the P11D Manager client application will now commence.
7. When the files have installed, you will be prompted to run the P11D Manager software. Click finish to exit.
